ナメクジウオ胚のボディプランが確立する過程で重要と考えられる遺伝子群を単離して、その発現パターンと機能の解析を行った。また、国際研究集会を開催して、研修者間の交流を図った。 |

To elucidate specific characteristics of lancelet development and similarity of developmental strategy between lancelets and vertebrates, embryonic development of lancelets was studied extensively from the view point of molecular biology and comparative morphology. |

内紛によって発生する大規模な難民と社会の不安定化にともなう人間活動が、保護区域の動植物相に与える影響を調査した。そして、UNHCRによる難民キャンプ設定地の問題と保護区の管理官の任務遂行意欲が緊急時に極めて重要な役割を担うことが示された。 |

Summary of Joint Research |
Impact of Rwandan refugees and civil war in D.R. Congo on national parks was investigated. It was found that camps established in two national parks by UNHCR caused serious damage to vegetation and animals and that the incentives of the park staff played a critical role in protecting the parks at the time of conflict. |
